What is Captain Cooks Cooking School?
Founded in 2008, Captain Cook’s is San Diego’s #1 mobile Kids Cooking School. We come to your home, clubhouse, school or private venue and teach children how to cook interesting, wholesome, kid-friendly food using natural, organic ingredients. We believe that when you introduce a child to the joys of cooking, you set the foundation for a lifetime of healthy eating habits. Our mission is to inspire and excite kids about creating, cooking and tasting new foods. We offer a variety of exciting hands-on classes, summer camps, holiday workshops and unique birthday parties. Also now available are Orange County Cooking Parties and Riverside County Cooking Parties.
What is Captain Cooks Blog?
Captain Cook’s Blog is a website containing information about health and food safety. Our goal is to provide fun educational resources both in and out of the classroom. Here you will find information on classes, merchandise, birthday parties, TV appearances and other facts about us. You will also find interesting articles, posts and comments on the state of the food industry and how it affects how and what we feed ourselves and our children.
Who are we?
The journey which led to Captain Cooks Culinary Academy begins over 30 years ago. Karen Whitehead grew up in Vermont, where organic,local and sustainable food is a way of life. Her earliest and fondest memories of cooking came from spending time in the kitchen with her Grandmother. Karen then went on to get her Masters Degree in Hotel Restaurant Management at UNLV and began her 18 year long career in hotel and restaurant industry. Now married, her and her husband share a common interest in their love for cooking and are able to share their passion with their 2 children as well.

Policies:
For health and safety reasons we have several policies in place in the kitchen.
Close toed shoes must be worn in the kitchen area to prevent slipping as well as to protect the foot from anything that could potentially fall off the work station.
Long hair must be tied back or hat must be worn.
Hands must be washed before we begin, after using restroom, and after handling raw meats or eggs.
Refund Policy:
For birthday parties and events a $100 nonrefundable deposit is required.
